International Craniofacial Academy

        International Craniofacial Academy (ICA) is a training institution with focus on the management of diseases of head and neck, including dentistry. It makes use of two existing institutions for the training activities: QH Specialist Dental Clinics and Research Centre (QHSDCRC) as well as Cleft & Facial Deformity Foundation (CFDF). All the three institutions are together in one location.

      QHSDCRC is a well-equipped dental treatment set up, that boasts of modern equipment obtainable in all standard centres of the world including full option dental chairs, Panoramic and cephalometric X rays, Digital intraoral X-ray, Laser tooth whitening kit and Dental implant kits.  The centre is manned by an array of specialists and auxiliaries in dentistry.

       Cleft & Facial Deformity Foundation is a registered non-governmental organisation that is focused on management of head and neck diseases. It operates through a well-equipped theatre at the centre as well as outreach surgical mission at different locations of Nigeria. Training accompanies all aspect of activities of the foundation. Major aspects of the foundation activities include comprehensive cleft care management including surgery, orthodontics, speech therapy and social works; comprehensive noma management programme; comprehensive dental sensitisation; craniomaxillofacial surgeries including trauma, tumour and TMJ Ankylosis (Locked jaw).

        International Craniofacial Academy is headed by a consultant maxillofacial surgeon with background in dentistry and supported by specialists in dentist and craniomaxillofacial surgery in permanent and visiting capacities (See List).  The method of training includes didactic lectures, seminars and practical hands-on trainings.

             ICA has been visited by Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria(MDCN) as part of the process of accreditation for Continuous Medical Examination (CME).
